21 Salads Challenge! [#2]

This will improve your digestion and flatten your belly as it flushes out old waste!

1Simple. See how quickly you can eat 21 salads.

2 A salad = an uncooked collection of vegetables or fruits (no more
than 1 fruit salad daily). It can be eaten in addition to a normal meal – preferably BEFORE the meal

3 Do it in 10 Days or less!

Hint: If you eat the recommended 3 salads daily, this should take you

To put enough live food IN to balance and digest and move along the parade of donuts and buns and pizza that we can’t seem to say no to (I love that stuff too you know – and I eat it!)Problem = Not enough live enzymes; Not enough live natural fiber.
Solution = Add more live natural enzymes to diet; Add more live natural fiber to diet…Voila!

ask yourselfWhat’s the big deal with salads?

In the 1930’s Paul Kouchakoff, M.D. showed that if you ate a diet that was more than 51% cooked food, your body reacts to the food as if it was being invaded by a foreign organism. Think about that: Cooking alters food so much, your body thinks it needs to defend itself! Here’s the save: He further demonstrated that if 51% of your meals were raw, you would have no leukocytosis (no white blood cell reaction), so your immune system would not be activated with a false alarm. Ah ha!!

What is a salad?

A salad is any uncooked collection of vegetables or fruits. Uncooked is key. You can order a side salad to come before your meal when you eat out. You can have a fruit salad before your breakfast (or just eat an apple and avocado and watermelon – same result right?)Pick up pre-made salads from the grocery store. Grab a salad at a fast food place. Salads are around us everywhere. Just open your eyes…you will see them! When the waiter says what do you want, you place your order then you add – “can I start with a side salad please?”
Heck, snack on baby carrots and grapes and easy convenient live foods. Give your body something to work with!

Click here to read this brilliant blog post to find out more… 1 Salad Will Change Your Life!

“Do I ONLY eat salads all day” – NOPE.

Eat whatever you like – Pizza? Go for it! Hamburger? – NOM NOM! Just add a salad BEFORE whatever meal you eat….GOT IT?

Salad Dressing – YES

Rule of thumb…creamy is bad (cream comes from milk and who knows how much processing it took). So no Ranch, Thousand Island, anything with the word “creamy” in it.
Stick to vinaigrettes (means it’s base is… vinegar …get it) Italian, etc. Yep, breakfast too…fruit salad anyone???

What should I expect?

– You’ll have more regular, easier to pass bowel movements (nice big ones too!)
– Many of you will lose an inch or 2 from your waist.
– Many of you will lose 5-10 lbs (REALLY!)
– Your skin will become more clear

Measuring Results

– Record before and after weight
– Record before and after body measurements (buy tailor tape measure)

What’s the purpose?

You are slowly building some core foundational lifestyle habits that
build upon one another and create a synergy that helps you remove
waste & toxins each and every day.

This is Challenge #2 of the 8 Challenges to Reset your body. As you complete this Challenge, you will start Challenge #3 as soon as you can.

Please share this with a few people, and BE WELL…

I finished the water and salad challenges and lost 4 pounds. I was not perfect but I did not give up and I did not beat myself up when I wasn’t perfect – which is a big deal for me
– S.R.

My wife and I finished the Salad Challenge last night. Really wasn’t too bad. We would have a salad for lunch, a salad before dinner, and a salad for snack. Saw some good results this week. Starting waist size 37.5″ / ending waist size 36″. Starting weight 189.6lbs/ ending weight 187.4lbs. My wife dropped 2 lbs and a waist size!

Instead of a salad before our normal meal, would it be acceptable to eat a grilled chicken salad as our meal ?

This may conflict with “nothing cooked”.

Excited to start this challenge in 2 days!
    Challenge #1 almost done.

    • Terry Givens September 8, 2013 at 5:29 pm

Hi Chris. It’s not a conflict at all, as long as the vegetables aren’t cooked. Do it!

      • Sara T July 29, 2015 at 2:08 pm

I love how flexible your approach to health is!!!

        • Terry Givens July 30, 2015 at 12:32 pm

Hey can I have salad dressing with the salads during this challenge? If so what kind? What can I include in the salads and not include

  5. Dawn December 17, 2013 at 9:08 pm

Hello. Terry, I was wondering if all your challenges are diabetic friendly? I am worried because even though carbs can be a bad thing we also need good carbs too.

    • Terry Givens December 22, 2013 at 9:15 pm

Great question Dawn! Carbs = carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are a nutrient found in many many naturally occurring foods: fruits, vegetables, etc.

My Challenges involve removing what we in America refer to as carbs, which in reality are processed carbs: breads, pastas, etc. (things that don’t naturally occur, if you think about it)

So have no fear, natural is always best. But…see for yourself and report back. BE WELL!

      • melissa Huk October 6, 2014 at 5:03 pm

For diabetics having natural sugars in fruits can be too much. When doing juice cleanse how do you factor these in. I am not a diabetic but borderline.

        • Terry Givens October 6, 2014 at 6:36 pm

Hi Melissa. Good question. You can stick to veggie juice only.

  6. Tom December 30, 2013 at 4:15 am

Hey, how many ounces is a serving of salad?

    • Terry Givens December 30, 2013 at 4:48 am

A serving = a fist size, at least. Extra points if you eat more!

      • Christine July 19, 2015 at 4:42 pm

        how much would that be

        • Terry Givens July 21, 2015 at 9:01 am

Make a fist. That big 🙂

  7. Jesus hernandez February 25, 2014 at 4:40 am

  8. Amanda March 20, 2014 at 4:56 am

Are these challenges designed to be done one after the other or can I combine two (i.e. This one and then no bread challenge that comes after it)?

I started the water challenge today and just did the math and realized that if I continue through them in order, I’ll be doing the Master Cleanse the week of my college graduation which just doesn’t sound fun!!

    • Amanda March 20, 2014 at 5:16 am

Never mind, I just did more reading and realized you’re supposed to take a break in between them!! Is there a medical reason for that or is it just to make it easier?

      • Terry Givens March 20, 2014 at 12:47 pm

        Great plan Amanda!
You can do the 1st 4 challenges, at the same time, if you want. (They will be a part of your permanent life soon)
No medical reasons. Go get it! Join my cleanse support group and keep us posted!

  9. Rosa Acuna March 24, 2014 at 5:49 pm

So can you give me more info on salad dressings, the only ones ive ever used is the 2 u mention NOT to use HEEELLLP! I would love to stick to the flavor/taste of ranch or thousand.

  10. Devin March 31, 2014 at 1:26 pm

If you don’t like salad, is there any substitute you could use?

  11. Sherri Bailey April 7, 2014 at 9:04 pm

I will be starting the salad challenge. it said I could have an apple or an avocado for my breakfast salad is that correct? Was a little confused

    • Terry Givens April 9, 2014 at 8:33 am

Sorry for the confusion Sherri. You can have ANY uncooked fruit or veggie for your salad. Lots of people prefer fruit (eg. Apple, avacado, etc) for breakfast vs veggie for breakfast. Along with my breakfast, I personally eat an apple, avocado, banana, grapefruit too. Eat what you enjoy!

  12. HazelNut April 10, 2014 at 10:07 pm

Greeting young man. Day 4 of no bread challenge with son and sisters. One of them seems to think we can have m&m’s, I think not…your thoughts

Also, doing salad next hopefully. What is your opinion on mixing different types of fruits, as I’ve learned in different classes, that it may not be a good idea. Thanks and Keep up the great job!

    • Terry Givens April 11, 2014 at 8:53 pm

Haha! I love your family’s imagination. They are right, the No Bread Challenge has no m&m restriction. You can haveIt’s your call!
I have seen many fruit & veggie (also protein and other food mixing studies)
I 100% agree that there are optimal ways to mix different foods. It’s just too complicated for people (and a confused mind shuts down)
I do not use those rules to eat by! Good luck on the rest of the Challenges. Click the link above to join my free support group, and keep us posted!

  13. Greg Running June 10, 2014 at 1:50 am

I made it!!!!! 21 salads while in Vegas !!!! Just had number 21 And ready to begin another challenge!!! I won’t lie though as my system is of used to real food. But I made it!!!!

Thanks Terry!!!! I had to hold myself accountable and actually follow through.

  14. Lisa July 22, 2014 at 3:36 am

I finished the 21 salads in 9 days! Plus I’m still drinking my water from challenge 1. A little nervous about moving on to the next challenge…. I feel this is where it gets hard! But I’m sticking to it!

    • Terry Givens July 27, 2014 at 1:39 pm

Fantastic job Lisa! Keep pushing yourself and you’ll keep becoming stronger with each day!

  15. Sheryl October 10, 2014 at 3:49 am

    Hi Terry!

Saw your video on the Fortune Builder’s Real Estate Ignite page and decided to take the challenge because I’ve been wanting to lose weight and prevent health problems for years. I also need the energy to start my real estate business part-time. I successfully completed the water challenge last Friday and lost 6 lbs! I’ve also done great maintaining my daily water intake this week too which is amazing because I never drank water before, although I do have to use lemon, cucumber, ginger, etc to give it flavor. I’m currently 10 salads in on the 21 salad challenge and just wanted to ask if raw veggies with hummus or non-fat yogurt dip could count as a salad as well?

Thanks for making becoming healthier as simple as one step at a time! 🙂

    • Terry Givens October 10, 2014 at 11:57 pm

Great job Cheryl! Yep “Raw veggies” is exactly what a salad is. Keep trucking. I’m going to share your story in my support group. You should join it!

      • Sheryl October 11, 2014 at 6:36 am

Already did! Hope to meet you someday soon at a FB event! 🙂

Hi! Croutons, cheese on salads? Or just veggies?

    • Terry Givens January 13, 2015 at 2:07 am

Hi Hattie. Anything you like on your salad!

  18. Ashley January 18, 2015 at 3:58 am

    Is Ceasar dressing allowed?

    • Terry Givens January 20, 2015 at 5:14 am

Hi Ashley. If you have to use Caesar, in the beginning, to eat the salad, do go for it!
Just keep on mind that you will eventually move to a lighter (less creamy) dressing over time. Oil or vinegar based ones. Vinaigrettes etc. YOU CAN DO IT!

  19. Ashley January 18, 2015 at 3:59 am

  23. Bonnie September 12, 2015 at 9:51 pm

    Hi Terry,
Ok…I am a beginner with all this healthy eating, but could you explain to me how telling me I can “keep my habits” and just add a jug of water will make me lose weight? (BTW I’m on day 4) all I am getting is I can continue to eat cheeseburgers and ice cream and just drink water and lose weight….I’m confused….HELP

  24. Keoshia December 29, 2015 at 2:11 pm

Do I eat salads 3 times a day for 21 days?

  25. Michael McGinnis January 31, 2016 at 1:17 pm

Hello Terry. Can the raw fruits and vegetables be placed in a juicer and then consumed? Is this acceptable for the salad challenge?

    • Miao April 12, 2016 at 6:11 pm

I’m not Terry, but I’m pretty sure juicer doesn’t cook the veggie, it’s just raw in a liquid form. So go for it.

  26. Carlos Castro March 30, 2016 at 9:46 am

do you keep drinking the same amount of water after the 10 day challenge and moved to salad challenge?

    • Terry Givens April 22, 2016 at 7:14 am
