I wake up around 7 a.m. I brush my teeth with a mixture of 40% baking soda & 60% sea salt on my toothbrush. I rinse it out with two capfuls of hydrogen peroxide. Then I chug a tall glass of filtered, room-temperature water. (I cut and squeeze half of a lemon into it.)
Then I pour a glass of whole, raw milk. I lay out a few scoops of yogurt to snack on while I prepare breakfast: three pasture-raised, organic eggs, seasoned and scrambled with chopped onions, mushrooms, cheese. Two slices of bacon on the side along with a whole avocado with sea salt sprinkled on. I chomp down on three or four prunes. (I eat a lot, huh?)
I grab a medium, dark roast, black coffee on the way to the office (sometimes I plop a couple of teaspoons of grass-fed butter in it for more fat and creamy flavor). I bring a bag with me to my office (a banana, a grapefruit, and an apple). I snack on them until lunchtime.
Lunchtime: I head to a Greek/Mediterranean restaurant for steak or lamb skewers and a salad. Or a restaurant that has sandwiches that they will make into a wrap for me. I add a side salad to it (constantly ordering “off menu”). Sometimes I’ll have a coconut water afterwards.
During the day, I’m snacking on pickles, almonds, and dried cranberries. I chug a couple of tall glasses of water.
At the end of the day, on my way home, I stop at the health food store (unless I’m lucky and it’s farmers market day) and grab fresh food for the night. At home, I’ll make a delicious stir-fry with seasoned chicken or pork and bell peppers, snow peas, bean sprouts, mushrooms, onions, and garlic. Or I’ll grill up a mouth-wateringly seasoned steak and steam a huge pan of broccoli liberally sprinkled with sea salt.
I have another couple of prunes, a couple of slices of pineapple. I’ll chill out and read for a bit and have a glass of red wine.
Sound fancy and totally unrealistic based on your current eating routine? I KNOW! This would have been my version when I was 30 years old:
Wake up at 8:30 a.m. Pop 4 Eggo waffles in the toaster. Drink some overly processed orange juice or eat a bowl of cereal. Or stop at Jack in the Box for a breakfast sandwich with hash brown wafer. Then lunch was any hamburger and fry combo meal. (I rotated between the fast food places daily.) Have a sweetened ice tea or fruit-flavored sugar drink. Snack on potato chips and/or a Little Debbie snack cake during the afternoon along with a Red Bull drink. Dinner was a box of Hamburger Helper with a can of green beans. And washed it all down with sweet tea or Kool-Aid.
Why do I tell you this? Because this Reset isn’t theory. I had to break over 30 years of bad habits to make this work too. It took seven years to get where I am now (it’s not overnight) but I tracked and noticed improvements and results EVERYDAY so I was encouraged to stay the plan.
If I can do it. You can do it. You deserve it.
