Four Ways To Get Your Mind Ready for the Cleanse
1 – Block off the time on your calendar
I’ll say again, there is NEVER a good time to do a cleanse. Unless you’re a social derelict, you will have some sort of party, or gathering or event coming up. THAT CAN’T STOP YOU! Take out your calendar and mark off the 5 -10 days for your cleanse. Don’t let a new invitation trump your cleanse days – Nothing is more important than your health and longevity! The same way that someone marks off and plans for a wedding or a vacation – Do that!
2 – Write down why you’re doing it
You are about to embark on a new thing for your body. NEW, not bad. To help yourself stay on track as you confronted by these NEW side effects (temporary hunger, temporary healing crisis’s, boredom, social pressure, etc) you will need to keep that temporary emotion from taking you off your committed path. Reminding yourself WHY you’re doing this in the first place will reinforce your commitment when you are weak.
Take a sheet of paper or make a note in your phone and make an exhaustive list of the benefits that you are hoping for. List the way that you want to feel if you reach your goal. List particular illnesses, symptoms or problems that you’d like to be free of. List activities that you’d like to be able to enjoy if this cleanse helps. You can even write a letter to yourself. Find a picture of you when you were at your healthiest. Record a message to yourself. SOMETHING! This is like your half time locker room motivation session to yourself. STAY IN THE GAME! FIGHT FOR THAT EXTRA INCH! DIG DEEP FOR AN OUNCE MORE COURAGE!
3 – Find an accountability buddy
Funny thing about human beings, often we will do more for others than we’ll do for ourselves! Work that to your advantage. Tell those you trust what you are doing and WHY you’re doing it (NOTE: be very careful who you let into your dreams – there are those that will tear down your goals because they, themselves are afraid – and they don’t even know they are doing it!) Have them check in with you daily for an update. You’ll find yourself staying on track simply because you know that call is coming!
This Support group is like a family. Each person is chiming in to support you and give you a pep talk if you need it, or a kick in the rear! Be vocal and share what is happening. That support will magically show up one day, at the precise moment when you are your weakest.
4 – Daily affirmations
I like to call it brain washing…think about it…How does the human brain learn? By repetition – children sing the “A.B.C” song to themselves, actors repeat their lines in the mirror a hundred times. After a while, when you’ve heard it enough, you start to believe it. (Think about that when you take note of what musical songs you listen to repeatedly and what television programs you are exposed to on a day to day basis. The brain washing can work against you too!)
Was this helpful? What else will help you?
